2K announced today that it has released the original Sid Meier's Railroad Tycoon, granddaddy to the recently released Sid Meier's Railroads!, for free. Originally released in 1990, the 14.2MB download includes the original game, manual, reference cards, and more in one convenient .exe.

You can download it here.  Be sure to read the manual and included README files, as the game runs native in DOS (using DOSBox for emulation purposes on XP machines) and has old-school manual copyright protection.
